Mostly for the past several years we've had plenty of carpenter bees and bumblebees.
The honeybee was collecting nectar in the false rosemary shrubs. False rosemary grows wild here. It looks very similar to real rosemary, and smells similar. They are blooming like crazy right now.
I planted a real rosemary bush among them. It's hard to find right now, as it blends well with the false rosemary. (It's the one on the left in the picture below.) Eventually, it will be easier to locate when it towers over the others.

I have never heard of those false rosemary bushes...hmmmm. I'll have to look more closely. :)
I have seen a couple of butterflies, but no bees...yet.
I am glad you found a Honey bee and hope more come too. I only saw a precious few last summer. They are dying off so fast. Like you if it were not for the little bumblebees last year bees would have not been on my flowers.
I think the false rosemary is also called Conradina. They are native to this area, and thrive on neglect. I don't know why they wouldn't do well in Texas. Our local nursery sells them, so maybe you could find them in a nursery in your area.
It is sad about the honey bees. I hope to see more.
I like the natural look of your garden with the false rosemary and rosemary plants. You haven't seen a honeybee in a almost decade!..Deb you got my mind Buzzing like a bee.
Last year I only saw about six the whole year.. and a few native mason bees...The Bumblebees were mostly the only bees I saw.
